In the beginning.....

Hi, My name is Linda. I first learned of Dr. Ian and The Challenge back in 07'. That's when I first joined. I THOUGHT I was ready then, but I was'nt. So according to his website, I've only lost 2lbs. I have several Autoimmune illnesses like-Sjogren's Syndrome, Lupus, Psoriatic Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, and other conditions like COPD w/Emphysema, Asthma,High Blood Pressure, Obesity and Bone Spurs which makes it hard for me to walk. But I have finally, I feel, seriously begun my journey to Health in July, 09'. I was hospitalized yet again, for Asthma. This because I caught a virus that aggravated that condition. I was in there for a week, which is unusually long for Asthma patients. But I am so thankful to the staff of Bayside Hospital and Dr. Holliday for taking me off some of my asthma pumps, and lowering the steroids and also keeping me there until my lungs were clear as a whistle with absolutely no wheezing! While I was in there, the hospital started me on a low sodium diet. It was hard at first, but I got used to it. I lost 5lbs. Considering that I weighed 295lbs at my highest, I was ecstatic! I am now back at 278 lbs. like I was in 07'. And to think I thought I was big then! When I left the hospital, at first I was so glad to be able to eat "regular food", I went overboard. Then one day as I passed a mirror naked, I thought to myself, I can do this. That is when I prayed to God to help me. Because I surely couldn't do it alone. Just like He took smoking away when I asked five years ago, I knew He could...take away my hunger and give me the strength I needed. And guess what? He did. This has not been a hard trip for me. It's not easy, but it's not hard either. it's natural. That's the only way to describe it. I am really changing my lifestyle. Like I actually check sodium and fat levels on products now, try to eat fresh fruits and veggies every day, some organic, healthy snacks like low sugar all fruit popsicles, and low sodium organic corn chips. I buy snack size bags and tiny containers to help with my portions. I drink a lot of water! I bought a good pair of walking shoes. I am now able to walk more. I work from 12n-8p. And I do four reps around my large office on my last 15 minute break, which is about 1/4 mile every day. There was a time not long ago, that I could only do two reps, and was wheezing the whole way! Also, I try to walk four miles on the weekend. I have'nt quite accomplished that yet, but I have done two miles! My last meal of the day is lunch at about 4p. After that, in the evening, I might have a piece of fruit, low fat weight watchers cheese sticks, and a popsicle. I'm still learning. But I will tell you, I have more energy, and feel better every day, and guess what? My breathing is fantastic! Stay tuned for more on me...
